Denza N8 EV Gets 1,003 km CLTC, A 130 kWh Pack And Up To 1,193 HP

Denza confirmed 1,003 km of CLTC range for the all-electric N8 from a 130.15 kWh Blade Battery 2.0, with flash charging from 10 to 70 percent in five minutes and a tri-motor version making 1,193 hp. The six-seat N8L EV follows in September with a 208-litre powered frunk.

Denza N8 EV Gets 1,003 km CLTC, A 130 kWh Pack And Up To 1,193 HP

BYD's premium brand Denza has confirmed 1,003 km of CLTC range for the all-electric N8, drawn from a 130.15 kWh second-generation Blade Battery. Flash charging takes it from 10 to 70 percent in five minutes, and from 10 to 97 percent in nine.

That works out to 12.98 kWh per 100 km on the CLTC cycle, for a five-seat SUV measuring 5,150 mm long, 1,999 mm wide and 1,820 mm tall on a 3,075 mm wheelbase. CLTC is generous enough that the number belongs in quotation marks, but the pack size is real and so is the charging hardware.

Rear-Drive Sense Or Tri-Motor Excess

The rear-wheel-drive N8 uses a single motor rated at either 320 kW (429 hp) or 370 kW (496 hp). Above that sits a tri-motor all-wheel-drive version on BYD's e3 platform: a 270 kW (362 hp) front motor and two 310 kW (416 hp) rear motors, for 890 kW combined. That is 1,193 hp in a two-row family SUV, which tells you rather a lot about where the Chinese premium segment currently sets its ceiling.

Denza is calling the N8 "the king of large 5-seater pure electric vehicles" and describing the range as world-leading. Its own Z9S opened pre-orders three weeks ago claiming 1,100 km, and the Z9GT it beat was on 1,036 km. Denza is being out-ranged by Denza, twice.

BYD did not publish curb weight, which is the figure that would tell you whether 12.98 kWh per 100 km is aerodynamic work or simply a very large battery doing the heavy lifting.

The cabin drops the floating tablet that BYD has been fitting almost everywhere else. In its place is a 30-inch display running nearly the full width of the dashboard on the passenger side, plus a 43-inch panoramic head-up display, 1.1 metres of projection sitting below the windscreen. Ambient lighting, a wireless charging pad, upgraded seats and a three-spoke wheel round it out.

The N8 Has History, And It Is Not Flattering

The original N8 launched in 2023 as a plug-in hybrid with a combined 1,003 km on a full tank and a full charge. It was offered in six- and seven-seat layouts and was discontinued in under a year on weak sales. The electric version arrives with the same headline number and a completely different way of reaching it.

The six-seat N8L follows in September as an EV, alongside the plug-in hybrid version that has been on sale since October 2025. Denza general manager Li Hui announced it on Weibo without pricing, range or powertrain figures, leading instead on a 208-litre powered front trunk with a covered drain, pitched at families loading wet or sandy gear.

What is known comes from the PHEV. The flash-charging N8L that replaced the original in June runs an 800-volt architecture with a 75.26 kWh second-generation Blade Battery, 430 km of electric-only CLTC range, and 10 to 97 percent in nine minutes at a Denza flash charging station. It starts at 319,800 yuan (about 47,160 dollars), 20,000 yuan above the version it replaced. The body measures 5,200 mm long on the same 3,075 mm wheelbase, in a 2+2+2 layout, with e3 vehicle control, DiSus-A body control and the LiDAR-based God's Eye 5.0 driver assistance system.

The commercial context matters here. Denza sold 19,196 vehicles in July, up 68.76 percent year-on-year but down 5.68 percent from June. Across the first seven months the brand is at 85,737 units, down 6.00 percent, though that is a sharp improvement on the 16.65 percent decline it was carrying at the half-year mark. Adding an electric option to a six-seat SUV that only came as a hybrid is a straightforward way to widen the funnel in the segment where Chinese families actually spend.

BYD had 10,000 flash charging stations running in China as of August 28 and intends to double that by the end of the year. Both the N8 and the N8L go on sale in China next month.
