XPeng will officially enter the Mexican market on March 25 with the G6 and G9 SUV models. Chairman He Xiaopeng announced the expansion on Weibo, marking XPeng's first step into Latin America.
The move follows XPeng's first-ever quarterly profit: 380 million yuan ($50 million) in Q4 2025. International sales reached approximately 45,000 vehicles in 2025, already accounting for over 15% of total revenue. The 2026 target is to double overseas sales.
The Bigger Play
XPeng's management has been explicit about the long-term math. By 2030, the company targets over 70% of profits from international business, with 1 million overseas EV sales through a network exceeding 1,000 locations across 60 countries.
Mexico offers a strategic entry point. Proximity to the US market, growing EV infrastructure, and trade dynamics that benefit Chinese manufacturers make it a logical beachhead for Latin American expansion.
The G6 and G9 represent XPeng's mid-to-large SUV lineup. The G6 competes in the compact electric SUV segment against vehicles like the Tesla Model Y, while the G9 targets the full-size premium segment. Mexican pricing and specifications haven't been announced, but expect them alongside the March 25 launch event.
The domestic Chinese market is getting more competitive and margins are thinning. XPeng's path to sustained profitability runs through international markets, and Mexico is the next stop.
