DS Automobiles has replaced its outgoing compact crossover with the N°7, a new model on Stellantis's STLA Medium platform offering up to 460 miles of electric range and a hybrid option starting with French pre-orders at €64,200.

The N°7 E-TENSE comes in three electric configurations. The entry-level front-wheel-drive variant pairs a 73.7 kWh battery with a 227 hp (169 kW) motor for 337 miles of WLTP range. Step up to the Long Range FWD and a 97.2 kWh pack pushes that to 460 miles with 242 hp (180 kW). The range-topping Long Range AWD adds a rear motor for 345 hp (257 kW), temporary boost to 370 hp, and 422 miles of range. Zero to 100 km/h: 5.4 seconds. DC fast charging tops out at 160 kW, good for 20-80% in about 30 minutes.

A 1.2-liter turbocharged three-cylinder hybrid producing 143 hp (107 kW) through a six-speed dual-clutch handles the combustion side. Fuel consumption: 5.4 L/100 km (43.5 mpg).

The Cabin Pitch

DS has loaded the N°7 with enough tech to justify the premium French positioning. A 16-inch infotainment screen sits beside a 10-inch digital instrument cluster. The X-shaped steering wheel is being pushed as a new brand signature. Heads-up display, digital rearview mirror, and a floating center console round out the dashboard.

Front seats are heated, ventilated, and massaging with neck warmers. Rear seats are heated. Audio options run from six to 14 speakers. The panoramic glass roof is claimed to be 40% larger than the outgoing model, which, without hard measurements, is a number designed to impress rather than inform.

Night Vision at This Price?

The DS Drive Assist 2.0 Level 2 system includes lane centering, adaptive cruise with stop-and-go, automatic lane changes, and night vision capable of detecting pedestrians up to 984 feet ahead. Night vision in a vehicle under €70,000 is notable. Most systems offering this capability sit in the German luxury segment at significantly higher price points.

The N°7 measures 183.5 inches long on a 109.8-inch wheelbase with wheels up to 21 inches. French pre-orders are open now, with broader European availability expected to follow in the coming months.
