MotorSpec (motorspec.net) is an automotive specifications encyclopedia and editorial publication operated by Tortato Networks, a technology company based in Brazil. This policy explains how we handle information across our products.

Scope

This privacy policy applies to:

  • The MotorSpec website at motorspec.net (and subdomains such as api.motorspec.net and static.motorspec.net).
  • The MotorSpec mobile app distributed through Google Play and, in the future, the Apple App Store.

Both products are operated by Tortato Networks. When a specific practice only applies to one product, it is labeled accordingly in the sections below.

Personal Data

MotorSpec does not ask you to create an account, register, subscribe to a newsletter, or fill in any contact form. The website and the mobile app are fully browsable without providing any identifying information. We do not collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, postal addresses, payment information, or any other personal identifiers from visitors or app users.

If you voluntarily email us for support, legal inquiries, or content removal requests, we receive your name and email address. That information is used exclusively to answer your inquiry and is not stored in a database or shared with third parties.

Website: Cookies and Third-Party Services

MotorSpec itself does not set first-party cookies. We use the following third-party services that may place cookies or collect technical information when you visit the website:

Google Analytics (Google LLC) collects anonymous usage statistics such as page views, session duration, approximate geographic region, device type, and referrer. This helps us understand how visitors navigate the site and improve the content. Google Analytics uses cookies to distinguish unique visitors, and no personally identifiable information is collected. Ezoic (Ezoic Inc.) is our advertising and site analytics partner. Ezoic serves advertisements on motorspec.net and performs testing, layout personalization, and performance analytics. Ezoic works with many advertising partners (including Google Ad Manager, AppNexus, OpenX, Index Exchange, Pubmatic, and others) who may set their own cookies or collect technical information to deliver and measure ads. Mobile App: Data, Permissions, and Third-Party SDKs

The MotorSpec mobile app is a read-only client that displays editorial articles, car specifications, and event coverage fetched from our public API. The app does not have user accounts, login forms, or any feature that collects personal data from the user.

Information the app processes on your device

  • Push notification token — when you enable article notifications, the app receives an anonymous push token from Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google LLC). This token identifies your device for the purpose of delivering push messages and is not linked to any personal identifier. You can disable notifications at any time in your device settings.
  • Advertising identifier — the app integrates Google AdMob to display banner and interstitial advertisements. AdMob may access your device's advertising identifier to show relevant ads. You can reset or opt out of ad personalization in your device settings (Android: Settings → Google → Ads → Reset advertising ID or Opt out of Ads Personalization; iOS: Settings → Privacy → Apple Advertising).
  • Diagnostic data — the app may report anonymous crash reports and basic performance metrics through Firebase Crashlytics. These reports contain technical information about the device and the error (OS version, app version, stack trace) and do not include personal identifiers.

Permissions requested

  • Internet — required to fetch articles and car specifications from the motorspec.net API.
  • Notifications (optional) — required only if you opt in to receive news alerts about new articles or event coverage.

Third-party SDKs in the mobile app

Data sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share any personal information because we do not collect any. The technical information listed above flows directly from your device to the respective third-party SDK provider under their own privacy terms. No Tortato Networks server receives personally identifiable information from the app.

Trademarks and Intellectual Property

All trademarks, brand names, logos, vehicle images, and photographs displayed on motorspec.net and in the MotorSpec mobile app are the property of their respective owners. Their appearance is strictly for identification and informational purposes and does not imply endorsement, sponsorship, or affiliation with any automobile manufacturer or third party.

Vehicle photographs are sourced from manufacturer press materials, official press rooms, and publicly available media kits under editorial fair use for reporting and technical reference.

Editorial Content and News Coverage

MotorSpec publishes original editorial articles covering automotive news, technology, specifications, and industry developments. Our articles are based on facts reported by established automotive publications, manufacturer press releases, and publicly available sources. Each article includes a reference to its original source.

Editorial opinions may be expressed within articles and are clearly presented as the perspective of the author. MotorSpec is an independent publication and is not affiliated with any automobile manufacturer, dealer group, or industry association.

Specification data in our database is sourced from official manufacturer publications and public records. While we strive for accuracy, we cannot guarantee every data point is free of errors. If you notice an inaccuracy, please let us know.

Because we do not collect personal data, there is no personal data to retain or delete on our side. Third-party cookies and tokens are subject to the retention policies of their respective providers (Google, Ezoic, Firebase).

Children's Privacy

MotorSpec is a general-audience reference and news publication about automobiles. The mobile app is rated for general audiences. We do not knowingly collect any information from children under the age of 13. Since we collect no personal data from any visitor or app user, this applies equally to all users regardless of age.

Regional Rights (GDPR, LGPD, CCPA)

Under the Brazilian General Data Protection Law (LGPD, Lei n. 13.709/2018), the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), users have rights of access, correction, and deletion regarding their personal data. As we do not collect personal data during normal use of the website or the mobile app, there is no data to exercise those rights against on our side.
