Perodua, short for *Perusahaan Otomobil Kedua Sendirian Berhad* (Second Automobile Manufacturer Private Limited), was founded in 1993 and quickly rose to become Malaysia’s largest car manufacturer, surpassing its main domestic rival, Proton.
